
Aikomarí Guzmán-Martínez, PhD
Associate Professor
Aiko received her B.S. in Chemistry from University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras where she worked with Dr. Néstor Carballeira. She later joined Pfizer Inc. at Groton, CT, where she was an assistant scientist. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. from University of California, San Diego, where she worked under the supervision of Dr. Michael VanNieuwenhze, for the Total Synthesis of Lysobactin. She continued her experiences and was a NIH Postdoctoral Fellow in Boston College, where she worked with Dr. Amir Hoveyda on Cu-catalyzed enantioselective methodology of allylic boronates promoted by chiral N-heterocyclic carbenes. After a three years working as a lecturer in University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, in January 2014, Aiko was appointed as an Assistant Professor at University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez.
